niagara-pntg-1

NIAGARA FALLS FOLK ART PAINTING, 19TH CENTURY

Wonderful painting, capturing the misty ambiance of an overcast early autumn day, with “The Maid of the Mist”, beneath Niagara Falls, in disproportionate rendering. Walkway and observation tower also depicted, along with unusual rendering of numerous village houses, hotel, etc, in background. Oil on artist’s board, mounted to original stretcher, in period walnut frame, with gilt liner. Overall excellent, uncleaned condition, with minor frame abrasions. C 1860.
